In September 2017, news broke that the City of Surrey was about to crack down on illegal suites in the Clayton area, placing more than 300 families in peril. The motivation behind this move? A number of residents have been complaining about the lack of free on-street parking in the area.

To support the residents, we ran an email campaign through our letter generator. 159 people used the tool to let Mayor Linda Hepner and the Surrey City Council know that these evictions are not OK.

In December, Surrey abandoned the plan to evict the residents, and has directed staff to investigate legalizing these suites.
