Let’s Show Some Support to the Jericho Lands!
After five years of planning and consultation, the Jericho Lands Policy Statement is finally coming to Vancouver Council on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. This is the time to show your support for this exciting and forward-looking proposal!

We’ve written to you before about how great this proposal is, so we’ll keep it short here: we think the Jericho Lands is going to be one of the best neighbourhoods in Vancouver.
The landowners – a partnership between the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations with the Canada Lands Company – are bringing forward a vision that will build thousands of homes in a car-lite, mixed-use neighbourhood. This is exactly what Vancouver needs. This proposal will contribute so much to the City:
- Support reconciliation by advancing the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations’ economic capacity and self-determination, while providing affordable housing for Indigenous people and new spaces for cultural activities and celebrations;
- Build a sustainable, car-lite neighbourhood that is well-connected to transit, a model for 21st century community building;
- Revitalize West Point Grey, a neighbourhood struggling to support its existing businesses and amenities.
This proposal is a winner, but it’s facing serious opposition. One opposition group has raised over $20,000 to fight it! This is too important to let the NIMBYs call the shots. It will take 25 years for the Jericho Lands policy vision to be realized, and we guarantee you: by 2050, no one will be complaining that it’s too bold or has too many homes. If Vancouver is going to thrive in the 21st century, this is exactly the sort of thinking we need to embrace!

I strongly support the Jericho Lands Policy Statement. The MST nations have brought forward an exciting vision for the future; this neighbourhood and the city should support them. Besides building thousands of homes to help with our severe housing shortage, the plan supports reconciliation and our climate goals. Please say yes, without delay or additional conditions!
