On Tuesday, October 17th, the Dunbar-Ryerson United Church rezoning goes before council.  Sign up to speak in favour of this project to deliver rental housing to an otherwise exclusionary West Side neighbourhood. If you aren't able to speak, make sure to send a letter to the Mayor & Council expressing your support for more homes like this with our convenient letter-writing tool.

In Surrey, our Clayton Heights friends' fight against the city's plan to evict residents of unauthorized basement suites in favour free on-street parking has made progress.  Under pressure from pro-housing citizens, Surrey City Council has sent the eviction plan back to city staff, suggesting that they may allow some families to stay temporarily, especially those with children in the neighbourhood's schools.

While this is better than evicting everyone in the coming months, it's still a position that puts access to cheap parking above access to affordable shelter for hundreds of Surrey families.  If you haven't already, help keep the pressure on Surrey's leaders by writing to the Surrey City Council, sharing this story, and writing your MLAs to let them know this isn't okay.
